Compare this with the two previous posts.
The scenery seen from the car window has completely changed,
and we are surrounded by a peaceful landscape.

About 3 hours from Accra, the capital city.
We arrived at the school built by our friends.

About 500 elementary and junior high school students were waiting for us.

Five boys, who looked to be about the age of junior high school,
started to play a rhythm with drums between their legs.

Six girls, three in a row, began to step.

And thus the welcome dance began.

The rhythm was pleasant, the melody was hummable,
and the steps were small and light.

Even I, who was sitting at the table, couldn't help but sway.

Someone explained, "This welcoming dance evokes a bird's courtship dance."

Five minutes pass ...

Ten minutes passed ...

Sakurai, who had been watching in his own groove ...

I suddenly found myself dancing with them.
( What is going on!? It wasn't supposed to happen. )

I took the same steps by watching and imitating.

Standing steps.
Kneeling, chest open and closed.

I manage to keep up.

Five minutes pass ...

10 minutes pass ...

No more!
They kept dancing all this time!

I don't know when it ends!!!!!

I mutter to myself, "I'm at the limit of my strength,
" and leave the front line.

I speak to my companion who was standing next to me:

Sakurai
It certainly seems to embody the courtship of a bird.

Friend What, a bird? Really?
Wait, what? That's what the other guy told me!
Who was that guy who was just banging information into my head?

Then, eventually, everyone gets mixed together.
The crowd is filled with great excitement,
as if they had just won the World Cup soccer tournament.

And the excitement moved on to surround the big mango
tree in the courtyard.

A large circle of excitement in the distance.

Sakurai is the only one left behind.

Sweat was beading on my forehead and chest with a sense of elation,
as if I had been dreaming of this welcome.

( to be continued )

*The following is a commentary on the dance from a fellow participant.
↓↓
The dance is called "Bobobo," a traditional dance of the Ewe tribe,
expressing joy and love.
It is also famous as a courtship dance, performed during festivals.
It is known for its energetic twisting of the hips.
