[ Let's Go to School - Off to the village ]
After playing soccer, we got in the car for about 3 minutes
and headed to a nearby village.
( ... walking ... )
Yes.
The children who go to school from this village walk
about 10 minutes to get there.
( By the way, there are about 40 children who go to school via boat,
as you can see in the photo uploaded on April 30 )
Looking around, you can see many houses made of
clay standing side by side.
Many children spend their evenings helping their mothers,
preparing fish and cutting up potatoes.
( continued ... )
"A quick update. I have been informed that teachers
at the school have been showing Sakurai's Instagram
and the children are very excited to see their own pictures.
That's all from the field."
Amazing .... I wonder if they are also seeing this post in Ghana,
in that village right now ....
It's a small world after all.

[ Let's Go to School - Off to the village ~ photos ~ ]
It's a ten minute walk to the school.
Here are some photos from the village of Abui-Tsita.
I also took pictures with some children who were
playing under the eaves of a house.
Everyone has such nice smiles.
As we were walking through the village,
a woman suddenly offered us some food.
It was a small fish deep-fried in oil.
I wasn't sure how it would taste at first, but ...
It is the same all over the world! It tastes like deep-fried small fish!
I am sure it's exactly as you'd imagine it!
What stable flavor!

[ About a Certain Man - the Light of a Role Model ]
During the welcome dance,
there was a man who shouted louder than others and got everyone excited.
Thinking back, he was also the one who
kept the students together during the plastic bottle toss
and while playing soccer.
Furthermore, when we were walking through the village he was always
leading the way and showing us around the houses.
( You can see him in the clip I posted two videos ago )
His name is “Atitto”.
I said, “Atitto, you are always so excited.
Why is that?”
I asked my friends about him,
the one moving around and shouting louder than anyone else.
He went on to high school and graduated.
( The completion rate of higher education in Ghana is not particularly
high to begin with. )
After that, he worked for five years, saved up money,
and went on to university at the age of 23.
After graduating from college, he worked for the Ministry of Health.
During the process, was able to study abroad a few times on scholarship, and he even studied at a Japanese university between 2017-19.
He is from ...
This very village we're being guided through now.
He left this village to go to university and also studied in Japan.
The dusty, peaceful scenery of this village
with its houses made of clay seem like such a different world.
But, I am sure that the children in this village
are able to visualize the wide world in a tangible way.
Why ?
Because they have Atitto.
Because they have a role model in him.
He is the village superstar.
Everyone wants to be like Atitto.
That's why Atitto was “so enthusiastic."
Normally, Atitto is a soft-spoken man with a calm atmosphere.
He was pouring his heart out to the children as he spoke,
almost to the point of losing his voice.
I just stared at him.
With Atitto as a role model,
the dreams of the village children won't just end in aspirations,
but are changed into something that can be fulfilled through hard work.
( Let's go to school - fin. )
